What are SilverSneakers® Classic Classes?
The SilverSneakers® Classic class is specifically designed to meet the needs of older adults, focusing on increasing strength, improving range of motion, and supporting the activities of daily living.
This engaging and supportive class provides a safe environment for our community members to exercise at their own pace. Our certified instructor will guide you through a series of exercises that can be modified for various fitness levels, ensuring that everyone can participate comfortably and effectively. To help build strength and improve flexibility, the class incorporates a variety of equipment, including:

Hand-held Weights
To build muscular strength and endurance.

For resistance training that is gentle on the joints.

We strive to make this program as accessible as possible for our community’s seniors.
- Free: For most Medicare Advantage members.
- $5 Drop-In Rate: For non-members who wish to attend a single class.
- $30 Punch Card: Available for 10 classes. This is a convenient and cost-effective option for regular attendees. Punch cards can be purchased in advance by visiting the front desk at Rehabilitation Services in the hospital.

Who is this class for?
The SilverSneakers® Classic class is designed for older adults of all fitness levels. Whether you are new to exercise or have been active for years, our instructor will help you adapt the movements to suit your individual needs and abilities.
What should I wear and bring to class?
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement and sturdy, closed-toe shoes (such as athletic sneakers). You may also want to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during the class. All necessary exercise equipment will be provided.
How do I know if my Medicare Advantage plan covers the cost of classes?
Many Medicare Advantage plans include the SilverSneakers® fitness benefit. To verify if your plan covers the class, you can check your eligibility on the SilverSneakers® website or contact your insurance provider directly. We are also happy to assist you at our Rehabilitation Services desk.
Do I have to pre-register for a class?
Classes are walk-in only. You do not need to register in advance. Class size is limited. Please arrive 10 minutes before the class starts to ensure you can sign in and set up your equipment.
I have a medical condition or physical limitation. Can I still participate?
The class is designed to be low-impact and adaptable. However, we always recommend consulting with your physician before starting any new exercise program. Please inform the instructor of any physical limitations or health concerns, so they can provide appropriate modifications for you.
Where do I purchase a punch card?
Punch cards for 10 classes can be purchased for $30 at the front desk of the Rehabilitation Services Department, located within Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital. Purchasing a punch card in advance makes attending classes simple and convenient.
